How to celebrate your baby's first birthday
Your baby turning one is a big milestone! What a year it's been and I think it's one to celebrate and I'm sure you want it to be special and memorable however , let's face it, it won't be memorable for your baby as they won't remember much from their special day!
In this blog post, I have put together 4 ideas to help you create beautiful memories for you to cherish forever.
1 . Throw a big party
"Obviously" is what you might be thinking right now. Your baby will not remember any of it in years to come why spend the money? Well, a party isn't necessarily just for your baby. It's also for YOU. To celebrate your first year into parenthood. You have made it through the sleepless nights, first batch of childhood illnesses and teething tears and you deserve to be surrounded by those you love the most to celebrate this journey. Why not having a guestbook where all your guest could write a message for your baby? 10 years along the line, your little one will love to read it again and again! Don't forget to also ask your guest to snap away some photos of you and your baby on the day as you will be too busy to do it yourself!
2. Spend the day out
This is a great way to create memories together! A day at the zoo/farm, the museum or the park sounds like a fantastic opportunity spend the day together, just the 3 of you (or you could even bring along the grandparents!). At the age of 1 , your baby is so inquisitive and will absolutely love looking around and discovering new things.
3. Make a memory box
If you haven't already started on this, don't miss out on the opportunity to create a memory box with special keepsake from baby's first year!
Here are some items you could include:
- Scan photos from the first time you met
- Baby's hospital band which was your baby's first ID really!
- A special outfit whether it's their first ever baby grow or their beautiful christening robe
- Newspaper from the day they were born
- Baby milestone photos (and I'm sure your phone camera roll will have you covered for this one)
- Lock of hair from their first hair cut
- Special cards ( you will have so many "Welcome to the World cards"
I never got round to doing this for my babies however I have made those two very special frames with their very first outfits and birth announcement cards.
4. Book a photoshoot
My Cake Smash photoshoot is definitely the best spoke session after the Newborn Photoshoot. There's nothing better than a tasty cake to celebrate birthday and it will likely be a new first (and favourite!) for your baby!
My cake smash sessions always include solo portraits of baby followed by the cake ending on some splash in the bath.
Don't think your baby will enjoy the mess? We can absolutely do all these minus the cake!
I am currently taking bookings for September to December 2024. If you want more info or to enquire availability, get in touch!
